Favorite Albums of 2007

I believe we had a discussion around "best" albums of the year last year. Maybe sharing our favorite albums of '07 will be less contentious and we'll be comfortable sharing our picks even if we haven't listened to all of Pitchfork's favorites. Here's mine:
  1. Kings of Leon - Because of the Times
  2. Radiohead - In Rainbows
  3. Wilco - Sky Blue Sky
  4. Arcade Fire - Neon Bible
  5. White Stripes - Icky Thump

I based my selections this year on enjoyment factor. I tried not to think too hard so I could focus on the records that really excited me this year and received maximum rotations on my walks to work.

(in no particular order)
Arcade Fire - Neon Bible
Jose Gonzalez - In Our Nature
Castanets - In the Vines
Page France - ...And the Family Telephone
Andrew Bird - Armchair Apocrypha
Sunset Rubdown - Random Spirit Lover
The National - Boxer
Radiohead - In Rainbows
Wilco - Sky Blue Sky
Dan Deacon - Spiderman of the Rings

I saw Andrew Bird play at the Chicago Theater with Bright Eyes a couple months ago. He was great... and weird. He's got to be the best whistler alive.

yeah, he's pretty freaking sweet. i've seen him here a couple times and i'm always amazed at the sounds he makes and the layers...and of course his unreal whistling abilities.

Knowing my tastes in music, any of these albums strike you as something I'd like?
