The Great American Soap Opera

In keeping with our political theme, I'd like to draw your attention to an article in Slate magazine (written by a Republican) regarding Cheney's recent - and past- political crimes. Along the same lines, if you are not keeping tabs on the wiretapping subpoena issued to the White House, you might want to. Talk about an attack on our personal freedoms and civil liberties (not to mention the Constitution)!

Freedom is not free - you actually have to pay attention.

I see a number of things that liberals find distasteful, but nothing illegal. Just because the Supreme Court shoots down something you're trying to do doesn't mean you should be impeached. And by the way, that bit about Wilson and Scooter Libby is an out and out falsehood. Everyone knows that Richard Armitage revealed Valerie Plame's identity to Novak, not anyone from the White House. Not to mention that the 9/11 commission determined that Wilson was lying through his teeth. He said Cheney sent him to Africa, when really it was his wife. The 9/11 commission also determined that his report actually strengthened the case that Iraq was seeking uranium in Africa, though he claimed otherwise. I realize libs hate Cheney, but give it up. I'm far more worried about a presidential candidate (Edwards) who says that the war on terrorism is a "bumper sticker" than an administration that is aggressively going after terrorists.

It's not the Scooter Libby thing that worries me so much (I don't really get the whole story), it's the wiretapping and the lack of respect that Cheney has for the constitution. You can't tell me this isn't troubling. The government should not be listening into our conversations, just like they should not be keeping track of what we are checking out from the library. None of their damn business. It's just a step closer to more losses of freedom, and it's written in our constitution that government is to serve us, not spy on us. The administration is very secretive and I think we as the people should be suspicious of this.
As for the government going after terrorists.... have we found those responsible for 9/11? Are we any closer to finding Bin Laden? Not that I've heard. We're just wasting time and money (not to mention lives) in Iraq.
